When he was 15, Walter Scheffe worked for an Enid pharmacy delivering
prescriptions on a bicycle. He graduated from the University Of Oklahoma
College Of Pharmacy in 1939 and worked for an Enid pharmacy before
joining the Air Corps in 1943.

Mr. Scheffe returned to Enid in 1946 to open the first of three
Scheffe Prescription Shops. His first pharmacy began with three people.
Scheffe Prescription Shops now employs about 30 people and has served
about 60,000 people in northwest Oklahoma.

Mr. Scheffe helped start a countywide polio immunization program in 1962,
has been a strong supporter of Scouting for many years, has served as
chairman of the United Way and YMCA board of directors and was named
Enid’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1988 for his “perpetual contributions
to the community of Enid” by the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce.
He has been awarded several professional honors and has served with the
Advisory Council for the University Of Oklahoma College Of Pharmacy.
He is a past president of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association and the
American College of Apothecaries.

In 2007, Walter Scheffe chose Steve Pryor and Osborn Drugs to continue his
longstanding pharmacy heritage in Enid. Using new technology and old
fashioned customer service we will continue the tradition established by
Walter Scheffe of providing caring and quality pharmacy service to the people
of the community and surrounding area. We look forward to serving you.
